Home » Fertility Treatments » Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT)

Like the GIFT procedure, the eggs and sperm are mixed in a lab, but with the zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), confirmation that the eggs are fertilized is done before surgically placing them in the fallopian tubes.

Possible Side Effects:
–          Similar to GIFT but with a longer lab time.
–          Some general discomfort from the anesthesia.
–          Sometimes done with the concurrent use of fertility drugs which can cause Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) and increases the risk of having multiples.
–          In the US it can range from $8,000 to $15,000 (plus the costs of the fertility drugs).
Rate of Success (Conception):
–          25% to 30%
